AREVA manufactures an extensive line of cast epoxy-resin insulated current transformers for 15 kV through 69 kV metering, protection, and control applications.

Units can be ordered by catalog number or can be custom designed to customer specifications. Common options include multiple cores in one unit, high-accuracy (0.15% or better) designs, and extended creepage distance designs.

Key features of AREVA MV outdoor CTs are as follows:

• Industry-standard secondary terminal box is cast aluminum
• Mounting plate is marine-grade aluminum
• Primary terminals are rotatable and removable, offering increased flexibility in the field and in the storeroom
• GIFU and GIFS designs can be mounted in the vertical, horizontal, or suspended position
• Excellent outdoor weatherability and UV resistance
• High tracking and arc resistance
• Virtually inflammable
• Extremely good mechanical properties (1100 lbs cantilever strength)
• Partial discharge test performed as a routine test on all units
• ANSI Gray color as standard (brown upon special request)

Also offered in these designs is the Medium-Voltage Extended-Range CT (MV ERCT) option. The AREVA MV ERCT design offers a high accuracy across a wide current range. This enables a utility to reduce the overall number of different CTs used, while at the same time dramatically improving the quality of the metering system and in many cases capture revenue the would otherwise be lost with conventional CTs. These designs incorporate a specially designed core/coil assembly in the standard physical housings.

The following ratings are available in units from 15 kV to 69 kV:

Type I              1000:5A           0.15B1.8 from 1% to 150% Inom (20A to 1500A)

Type II             2000:5A           0.15B1.8 from 1% to 150% Inom (20A to 3000A)
