Primary Metering Sets
Featuring Qualicast Instrument Transformers

AREVA offers any combination of our Qualicast Instrument Transformers up to 25 kV pre-assembled on a mounting bracket and wired to a common junction box. This arrangement offers a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to the obsolete 3-phase oil-filled metering units formerly available from other manufacturers.

The Transformers
Qualicast Transformers are manufactured with cycloaliphatic epoxy resin. The color is grey making the whole arrangement visually less intrusive. Standard features of the transformers are described in their respective brochures. The transformers can be specified by catalog number.

Mounting Bracket
The supplied assembly is fabricated from aluminum plate and extrusions. It features all – welded construction. Oval eye nuts are provided for lifting. Unit may be mounted to the pole by means of two 5/8” thru – bolts (not provided) on 11¼” centers.

The Assembly
The transformers are mounted to the frame with stainless steel nuts and bolts. The H2 voltage transformer terminals are grounded to the mounting frame via the transformer mounting plates. Secondary leads of #12 wire are enclosed in 1” liquid tight flexible conduit and terminated in a formed marine grade aluminum junction box on screw-type terminal strips. The junction box is water tight according to NEMA Type 13. Knockouts for two 1” conduits are provided on the bottom of the common junction box. A wiring diagram is provided on the junction box door. Each instrument transformer has its own rating plate.

Ordering Information
To order a metering set, order the assembly separately according to the table below. The price quoted for the assembly will include all costs to attach the transformers and complete the wiring. The transformers are to be specified separately and can be ordered by their catalog numbers or by specifying the performance characteristics.
